Words

Our Approach

Words, words everywhere...

I am passionate about words and how they make a person feel.

Words are everywhere and we are bombarded with messages wherever we look – from street signs to shop fronts, packaging and printed materials to digital messages conveyed through smart phones, smart speakers, tablets and so on. The list is endless!

In a world saturated with words and messages, often there is only limited opportunities to hit the mark – so you need to get it right first time – and that’s where I can help.

Our Story

Caroline RoopeMy story

I've always felt passionately about writing and the written word. As a child I often penned short stories, and made them into little books with drawings. My first, 'The Bear and the Honey', which I wrote at the age of six is still in my possession - although its looking a bit tired and battered these days! This was, of course, long before the days of Kindle's and E-readers and the internet was still in its infancy.

I studied for a BA (Hons) in English and Media Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University, and after a short stint in publishing, went back to full time academia to study for an MA in Heritage Management, which I passed with a Distinction.

My career in heritage, museums and the arts was very varied but enabled me to develop a broad skillset. I have worked in marketing and PR for a regional art gallery, written interpretive and online content for small and medium sized heritage sites; and proofread and edited statutory documents for English Heritage, amongst other things.

After a career break to look after my family, I worked on a consultancy basis with Lifecycle Marketing as the Area Manager of a local website aimed at the family market. It was through this role that I was able to develop skills in online content creation, SEO optimisation, social media management and blogging. This role evolved and eventually saw me becoming Editor of Families Solent East Magazine and Families Online South East Hampshire - both thriving and successful businesses - one of course in print and the other online, so I get the best of both worlds!

Oddly, I still prefer to do my creative writing with a pencil and paper first - a weird quirk of being a writer I guess!
